Daily Projects’ regular exhibition project ‘Temporary contemporaries’ is literally temporary and contemporary. Daily Projects tries to gather contemporary art movement through regular exhibition. The time of one and an half month is like a day in time universe. The meaning of this project is that we can build a history by remembering and recording our present time. The art works gathered in ‘Temporary contemporaries’ are very subjective now, but it can show an objective vision of our time by gathering different subjects of different artists.
One side wall of white room in 1st floor select shop is going to be used as a canvas of artists. Every art pieces such as drawing, painting, motion picture and installation can be a moment of our present. Removed art work after exhibition is going to be existing in our memories and records for short time.
This project focuses on ‘recording present’. Memories do not last long and making a history is filling our time with recorded present. Especially, the work including many exhibitions lasts for short time and disappears so it should be recorded.
The first record of ‘Temporary contemporaries’ is a wall painting of tattoo artist, Kim Young Bin. His unique colors are not that strange if you saw his installation and drawings of dos a dos party. This wall painting display for one and an half month, from 15th Mar to 30th Apr and the wall is going to be covered with white again after the exhibition.

데일리 프로젝트에서 정기적으로 선보일 전시 프로젝트 ‘Temporary contemporaries’ 는 단어 그대로 ‘일시적이고 동시대적인’ 것들의 모임입니다. 데일리 프로젝트는 한달 반을 주기로 열리는 전시를 통해 동시대(contemporary)적인 움직임들을 모아보려 합니다. 한달 반이라는 시간은 오랜 시간 안에서 보면 하루와 다름없습니다. 일정한 기간의 전시를 통해 모인 ‘동시대’를 기억하고, 기록하여 일종의 역사를 만들어 보자는 것이 이 프로젝트의 취지입니다. ‘Temporary contemporaries’ 에서 모인 작가의 현재는 지극히 주관적이지만, 다양한 작가의 서로 다른 주관이 쌓이고 나면 우리 시대의 객관적인 모습 또한 읽을 수 있을 것입니다.
1층 편집 매장, white room의 한쪽 벽이 작가들의 캔버스로 쓰입니다. 드로잉, 페인팅, 영상, 설치 등 흰색 벽 위에서 표현할 수 있는 모든 미술 작품들이 시대의 한 순간이 됩니다. 전시가 끝난 후 지워지거나 철거된 작품들은 짧은 시간 동안 사람들의 기억과 우리의 기록 속에서 존재할 것입니다.
이 프로젝트는 ‘현재를 기록한다’는 것에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 기억의 수명은 그리 길지 않으며, 동시대를 채워 역사를 만드는 요소는 현재를 기록하는 모임의 집합입니다. 특히 어느 순간만 존재하고 없어져버리는 작품의 경우 - 많은 전시가 이에 속하겠지만 - 더욱 기록에 충실해야 합니다.
‘Temporary contemporaries’ 의 첫 번째 기록은 타투이스트 김영빈의 벽화입니다. dos a dos 파티의 인스톨레이션과 그림 작업을 본 이들이라면 그의 독특한 색감이 낯설지 않을 것입니다. 3월 15일부터 4월30일까지 한달 반 동안 전시하는 김영빈의 벽화는 전시 종료 후 다시 흰색으로 덮일 예정입니다.
